Inverse Supersymmetry Breaking in S1 × R3
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper, we study the influence of hard supersymmetry breaking terms in a N = 1, d = 4 supersymmetric model, in S × R spacetime topology. It is shown that when the radius of the compact dimension is large supersymmetry is unbroken, and dynamically breaks as the radius decreases. We point out that this resembles the inverse symmetry breaking of continuous symmetries at finite temperature (however, in the case of supersymmetry, the role of the temperature is played by the compact dimension’s radius). Furthermore, we also find a universality in the dependence of the critical length Lc as a function of a coupling g3, after comparing all cases.

Spontaneous Scherk-schwarz Supersymmetry Breaking and Radion Stabilization *
In this talk I review the issues of supersymmetry breaking and radion stabilization in a five dimensional theory compactified on the Z 2 orbifold. Supersymmetry breaking by Scherk-Schwarz boundary conditions is interpreted as spontaneous breaking of local supersymmetry by the Hosotani mechanism. The auxiliary field responsible for spontaneous supersymmetry breaking is inside the five-dimensiona...
متن کاملStudying Transition From Abelian to Non-Abelian Confinement
The center-stabilized multiflavor QCD* theories formulated on R3 × S1 exhibit both Abelian and non-Abelian confinement as a function of the S1 radius, similar to the Seiberg–Witten theory as a function of the mass deformation parameter. For sufficiently small number of flavors and small r(S1), we show occurence of a mass gap in gauge fluctuations, and linear confinement. This is a regime of con...
متن کاملSmall Extra Dimensions from the Interplay of Gauge and Supersymmetry Breaking
Higher-dimensional theories provide a promising framework for unified extensions of the supersymmetric standard model. Compactifications to four dimensions often lead to U(1) symmetries beyond the standard model gauge group, whose breaking scale is classically undetermined. Without supersymmetry breaking, this is also the case for the size of the compact dimensions. Fayet-Iliopoulos terms gener...
متن کاملQCD-like Theories on R3 × S1: a Smooth Journey from Small to Large r(S1) with Double-Trace Deformations
We consider QCD-like theories with one massless fermion in various representations of the gauge group SU(N). The theories are formulated on R3×S1. In the decompactification limit of large r(S1) all these theories are characterized by confinement, mass gap and spontaneous breaking of a (discrete) chiral symmetry (χSB). At small r(S1), in order to stabilize the vacua of these theories at a center...
متن کاملSoft leptogenesis in the inverse seesaw model
We consider leptogenesis induced by soft supersymmetry breaking terms (“soft leptogenesis”), in the context of the inverse seesaw mechanism. In this model there are lepton number (L) conserving and L-violating soft supersymmetry-breaking B-terms involving the singlet sneutrinos which, together with the – generically small– L-violating parameter responsible of the neutrino mass, give a small mas...
